Attack Pet System

Four companions. One shared equipment system.

Build a partner for your journey: a stalwart bear, a relentless wolf, a frost-wielding penguin or a supporting crow.

Command active abilities yourself, develop passive skills and find pet equipment on the monsters you defeat. Each companion has its own role and five skill families to develop.

This guide describes the optional attack-pet expansion, not the unchanged original pet system. It must be enabled by the server. Numbers below reflect the current design, reviewed 16 October 2026.

Getting started

  1. Summon an attack pet from its summon item. The expansion supports Bear, Wolf, Penguin and Three Footed Crow; it does not turn pickup pets into attack pets.
  2. Open pet information with Insert or the Information button beside the pet portrait.
  3. Check the tabs. Basic Info shows the pet's combat stats; Inventory holds its equipment; Skills shows its training tree.
  4. Learn a skill when your pet meets the level, previous-book and skill-point requirements. Unmet requirements appear red in the tooltip.
  5. Drag a learned active skill to a normal numbered quickslot. Press that slot's key to command the currently summoned pet.

Missing Inventory or Skills? Check Experimental → Game → Attack-pet training in the client. Both the client option and the server expansion must be enabled.

Choose your companion

Equipment is shared across species, but their underlying combat profiles differ. These are roles, not a promise of identical stats at the same level.

Bear · Defense

Hold the line

High health and strong defenses, with lower attack. Draw enemies away from your character and withstand their attacks.

Bear skill families
  • Active · Challenging RoarTaunts nearby monsters without dealing damage. Book I starts with three normal monsters in an 8 m base radius; II admits party monsters and starts at 12 m; III raises the limit to six and starts at 16 m. Proficiency increases radius. Uniques are excluded.
  • Active · Iron HideCommand an immediate, short damage-reduction buff. No selected monster or basic attack is needed.
  • Passive · Unbroken SpiritTaking monster hits builds up to 10 Resolve stacks for 15 s: bonus maximum HP and subtle growth. II resists slows and knockback at full Resolve. III consumes full Resolve to empower Roar reach/targets or Iron Hide capacity by 50%.
  • Passive · Guardian’s BondI: revives the owner with 10–100% HP and lost EXP, on a 10–5 minute cooldown. II: transfers 10–20% owner damage to the bear. III: transfers 20–30% and extends protection and revival to nearby party members. Revival targets may be no more than 10 levels above the bear.
  • Passive · Crushing PawEvery ten physical or spell hits taken by the bear stuns its attacker. Book II adds a separate counter for the owner. Book III also gives other monsters within 8 m of the hit recipient a 50% stun chance. Shielded hits count; blocked hits and periodic damage do not. Unique monsters are immune.

Wolf · Physical attack

Hunt down your prey

A physical damage specialist. Bleeding, wounded targets and finishing blows reward sustained pressure.

Wolf skill families
  • Active · Hunting HowlGrants attack speed for 8 seconds: wolf, then owner, then nearby party. No enemy target needed; strongest howl wins. Maximum bonus +500%.
  • Active · Savage RendA commanded physical bite with 6-second bleeding. Advanced books cleave up to 3 or 5 enemies; the final book deals extra direct damage against bleeding targets.
  • Passive · ExecuteA damaging hit can finish a non-unique monster below its remaining-health threshold. Blocked hits do not execute.
  • Passive · BloodscentDamaging attack actions build damage stacks for 6 seconds. Later books add a separate owner pool and critical chance. Stack limits: 5, 8, 10. Damage per stack: I 1–2%, II 2–3%, III 3–4%. Owner charges appear beside the top-left buffs; gold marks full stacks or a next-hit release.
  • Passive · Blood HuntFour hits mark one enemy for a stronger Savage Rend. Later books share wolf/owner charges; the final book also bursts nearby bleeding enemies.

Penguin · Magic

Control the battlefield

Strong magical offense with less health and physical defense. Magical attack improves its damage; defensive gear helps it survive.

Penguin skill families
  • Active · Ice LanceA magical bolt cast from 15 m with a frostbite chance. Later books pierce two more enemies and deal extra damage to frostbitten targets.
  • Active · BlizzardFour area hits, one second apart. Later books enlarge the storm, slow enemies and freeze those exposed to every pulse. Native resistance applies.
  • Passive · ShatterDeals more damage to chilled enemies. Later books include owner attacks and release ice shards when a frozen enemy dies.
  • Passive · Arcane ResonanceSpell hits build five magical-attack stacks lasting eight seconds. Later books add separate owner stacks and let a fully charged penguin repeat its next active.
  • Passive · Frozen HourglassFive spell-hit charges recover two seconds of the next active's cooldown. Later books add owner magic hits and longer frostbite. Echoes and storm pulses cannot generate charges.

Crow · Support

Keep your journey going

Supports its owner with healing and enemy debuffs. Its current speed passive improves the crow's attacks, not party movement.

Crow skill families
  • Active · MendCommand an immediate heal based on the owner's maximum health.
  • Active · Mark PreyA commanded strike attempts to reduce the target's physical and magical defense. Recharge counts attacks rather than seconds.
  • Passive · Carrion FeastHeals the owner when the crow lands the killing blow.
  • Passive · Swift WingsIncreases the crow's attack speed. Owner and party movement speed are unchanged.
  • Passive · Murder of CrowsPeriodic damaging attacks strike nearby enemies. Uses the crow's existing attack animation.

Hover a skill in game for its current and next-rank values. Some higher-book bonuses change behavior as well as numbers; the in-game description is the reference for your pet's proficiency.

Three books in every row

Each pet has two active rows and three passive rows. The three icons in a row are successive books of the same skill family, not three unrelated abilities.

Sequential pet skill progression
BookStarts at pet levelRequirementFinal rank level
I10A free point40
II40Book I at rank 1090
III90Book II at rank 10120

Each book has ten learnable ranks. Its next rank may need a higher pet level even when that book is already unlocked. The tooltip shows the exact requirement.

A pet starts with one training point and earns another every two pet levels. Points are shared across all five rows: you must choose where to invest. Special test pets may have extra points; those are not normal progression.

The highest learned book in each passive row is always active automatically. Earlier books are replaced, cannot be manually selected, and do not add another copy of the bonus.

Commands, quickslots & cooldowns

  • You control active skills. Bind them while ready, then use a numbered quickslot just like a character skill. The summoned pet must know the bound skill.
  • Offensive skills need a valid target. Self-buffs, healing and area commands have their own admission rules; a roar needs eligible monsters in range.
  • All books in one active row share recharge. Casting Book III also puts Books I and II in that row on cooldown. The other active row remains independent.
  • Timed recharge shows a sweep and countdown in the skill tree and quickslot. The skill becomes available when its timer expires.
  • Event recharge counts actions such as attacks or hits taken. Waiting does not clear an attack counter. Read the tooltip to distinguish a counter from seconds.

Cooldown reduction has a ceiling

Equipment blues and applicable passives add together, then the total is capped at 80%. The effective total is shown in the pet Inventory tab.

Remaining timed cooldown = base cooldown × (1 − effective reduction)
Total bonusesEffective reduction30-second skill
One 50% item50%15 seconds
Two 50% items80% cap6 seconds
Any 150% total80% cap6 seconds

The 150% row explains the cap, not a promise that any three items can roll cooldown reduction. Currently that blue is eligible on harnesses and charms. Event-based recharge uses rounded counters with a minimum of one event.

Equipment found on the road

Attack pets share three equipment slots. A piece can be used by any supported species that meets its pet-level requirement.

Mounting partBase statsUseful for
CollarPhysical attack, magical attack, hit ratioOffense and accuracy
HarnessPhysical defense, magical defense, parry ratioSurviving attacks
CharmSmaller bonuses to all six statsRounding out your build

White tooltip lines are base equipment stats. Blue lines are rolled modifiers, such as percentage damage or defense, cooldown reduction, elemental additions or extra skill levels. A plain item does not secretly grant those percentage bonuses.

Find pet gear from monsters, not NPC shops. When a monster produces an eligible normal character-equipment drop, the server may add a pet item of the same degree. The original character item remains. Gold and potions do not trigger this extra roll.

The default factor is 10% per eligible equipment drop: about ten additional pet items per hundred such drops over time, not a 10% chance on every kill. Server operators can change this rate.

Pick up the item, check its requirement, then drag it from your inventory to the matching pet slot. Right-click a worn piece to remove it when permitted. Recall the pet and leave combat before changing gear or training if the server refuses the action.

Nine degrees, stronger possibilities

Degrees follow character equipment bands through 9D. A monster can roll a lower-degree normal item, so its pet drop can also be below that monster's highest eligible degree.

DegreeRequired pet levelMaximum blues
1D11
2D82
3D162
4D243
5D323
6D424
7D524
8D645
9D766

A maximum is not a guarantee. Plain items can have zero blues. Higher degrees improve roll floors and unlock stronger eligible tiers, but a 9D item can still roll a lower tier or fewer than six options.

Each modifier group can appear only once on an item. A blue must also match the slot and degree. Higher percentages are deliberately rarer; the server controls each tier's limits and roll bias. Saved item rolls do not change when future drop settings change.

Care for your companion

  • Watch HP and HGP. Low satiety can lower combat performance, so feed the pet before comparing equipment or skill damage.
  • A pet above its owner's level cannot be summoned normally. Keep the owner eligible while training.
  • Gear and learned ranks are saved with the pet's summon item. Relogging does not grant a fresh build.
  • Recharge state is saved too. Timers can expire as time passes; event counters still need their specified actions.
  • Use weak enemies when trying a new build. A skill icon working does not make an underfed or poorly equipped pet safe against high-level monsters.

Common questions

Why can I not learn the next skill?

Check pet level, free points, previous-book rank and combat state. Book II needs Book I maxed; Book III needs Book II maxed. Unmet tooltip requirements are red, even on unlearned skills.

Why does another skill icon go dark when I cast?

All three books in that row share a cooldown. It prevents cycling through the same family to avoid recharge.

Why is Mark Prey not recharging while I wait?

Its recharge is attack-based. Make the required pet attacks; it is not a timed countdown.

Do stronger blues change the white numbers on the item?

No. The item's white lines describe its fixed base stats. Rolled percentage effects remain blue; the pet's Basic Info reflects applicable equipment and passive combat modifiers.

Does 9D guarantee six blues or a 50% cooldown roll?

No. Six is its blue cap. Each roll still chooses an eligible group and tier, then a biased value within the allowed range. The top cooldown tier is currently D9 harness/charm gear; its configured maximum is not a guaranteed value.

Does this work on the public server already?

This is a guide for the optional expansion build. Seeing this page does not mean every server has enabled it. Check that server's announcements and the pet tabs in game.
